BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT
We are passionate about helping new moms fulfill their desires to breastfeed their babies. One of our doulas, Jessica Bower, is a lactation consultant (IBCLC) and she provides a variety of services to support breastfeeding families in pregnancy and in the early days and weeks postpartum.
Lactation Consultations
Jessica does 90 minute lactation consultations either in the comfort of your home or at her office space in Kernersville. This visit includes assessments of you, your baby, and a feed. Weight checks occur before and after feeds to know exactly how much your baby eats. Pumping and bottle feeding are assessed as well if desired. Reasons for scheduling a consultation include but are not limited to: painful feedings, low milk supply, damage nipples, concern about tongue tie or lip tie, engorgement, slow weight gain, or simply reassurance. All your questions are answered and Jessica works with you to develop a full feeding care plan that works for your family.
Lactation visits are 100% covered for clients with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, and Cigna health insurance.

Fees if not covered by insurance:
Initial Visit - $175
Follow-up Visit - $150
Add-On Visit if Jessica is your doula - $80
If not covered by insurance, payment is due at the time of service (FSA and HSA cards are accepted) and Jessica will provide you with a coded receipt that you can provide to your insurance company asking for reimbursement; however, reimbursement is not guaranteed as in-home lactation may be considered out of network. To schedule a lactation consultation, contact Jessica by texting her at 336-707-3842 or email her at jessica@naturalbabydoulas.com. All attempts are made to do the visit within 24-48 hours. If you are in urgent need of advice, Jessica can come up with a feeding plan with you over the phone until she can see you in-person. Jessica does visits in Greensboro, Burlington, Winston-Salem, High Point, and some surrounding areas.
Jessica's gentle approach meets you where you are and helps you and your baby have the best experience with breastfeeding and bonding as possible. Jessica is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and her undergraduate degree is in psychology and counseling and her graduate degree is in education. Her passion is to calmly care for, listen to, and educate the family in this precious but also challenging season.
Live Online Breastfeeding Class
We host a breastfeeding class on Zoom once each month from 6:30-8:30pm. This class is excellent preparation for the often challenging early days of breastfeeding and beyond. The class should be taken prenatally.
